· India never invaded any country in 10,000 years of history.
· India invented the number system. Zero was invented by Aryabhatta.
· The world’s first university was established in Takshshila in 700BC. More than 10,500 students from all over the world studied mot than 60 subjects here.
· The University of Nalanda built in the 4th century BC was one of the greatest achievements of the ancient India in the field of education.
· Ayurveda is the earliest school of medicine known to humans. Charaka, the father of medicine consolidated Ayurveda 2500 years ago.
· The decimal system was developed in India in100BC.
· The art of Navigation was born in the river Sindh 6000 years ago. The very word Navigation was derived from the Sanskrit word ‘NAVGATHI’. The word navy was also derived from Sanskrit word ‘NOU’.
· Bhaskaracharya calculated the time taken by the earth to orbit the sun hundreds of years before the astronomer Smart. In the 5th century BC he calculated the time taken by the earth to orbit the sun to be 365.258756484 days.
· The value of “pi” was first calculated by Budhayana, and he explained the concept of what is now known as the Pythagorean Theorem.
· This theorem is nothing but “Shulva Sutra”.
· Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus were came from India; Quadratic equations were invented by Sridharacharya in the 11th century.
· The largest numbers, the Greeks and The Romans used were 106 whereas Hindus used numbers as big as 1053 with specific names during the Vedic period i.e., 5000BC. Even today, the largest number used is Tera 1012 .
· According to the Gemological institute of America, until 1896, India was the only source for diamonds.
· USA based IEEE has proved what has been a century-old suspicion in the world scientific community that the pioneer of wireless communication was Prof. Jagdeesh Bose and not Marconi.
· The earliest reservoir and dam for irrigation was built in Saurashtra.
· According to Saka king Rudradaman 1 of 150 BC a beautiful lake called ‘Sudarshana’ was constructed on the hills of Raivataka.
· Sushrutha, the father of surgery, and health scientists of his time who lived 2600 years ago, conducted complicated surgeries like cesareans, cataract, artificial limbs, fractures, urinary stones and even plastic surgery and brain surgery.
· Usage of anesthesia was well known in ancient India, over 125 surgical equipment were used, and deep knowledge of anatomy, physiology, etiology, embryology, digestion, metabolism, genetics and immunity is also found in ancient texts.
· Chess (Shataranja or Ashtapada) was invented in India.
· Over 5000 years ago when many cultures were only nomadic forest dwellers, Indians had already established Harappa culture in Sindh Valley (Indus Valley Civilization).
· The co-founder of Sun Microsystems (the company which is sweeping the internet with his brainchild java b)… is Vinod Khosla (An Indian).
· The creator of Pentium chip (Needs no introduction, 90% of today’s computers run on it)…is Vinod Dahm (An Indian).
· The founder and creator of Hotmail (Hotmail is world’s no.1 wed based e-mail program)…is Sabeer Bhatia (An Indian).
· Although modern images of India often show poverty and lack of development, India was the richest country on earth until the time of British invasion in the 17th century.

Ø There are 3.22 million Indians in America.
Ø 38% of doctors in America are Indians.
Ø 12% of scientists in America are Indians.
Ø 36% of NASA employees are Indians.
Ø 34% of MICROSOFT employees are Indians.
Ø 34% of IBM employees are Indians.
Ø 17% of INTEL employees are Indians.
Ø 13% of XEROX employees are Indians.
But, sadly if we don’t see even a glimpse of that great country in India that we see today, it clearly means that we are not working up to our potential But if we do, we could once again be an ever shining and inspiring country setting a bright path for rest of the world to follow.
So stand with your head high in the air and say,
“I AM PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN”.
